Thank you, and have a good time uploading here! |
Because logging onto AIM would be far too silly
I see you've been fixing people's crappy uploads. If possible, could you get these higher-quality versions in png format, reupload to a new filename and tag the old one with delete? If the ones you are finding are in jpg already feel free to ignore this message; just that png is preferred and if we can get png, it would be good to have it. —darklordtrom 21:47, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
- As silly as this sounds, nah...If I save them as File.png, it shows as a png, but it makes them unable to upload to the Archives. --PsychicRider 21:51, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
- You need to upload to a new filename. png cannot replace a jpg image. —darklordtrom 21:54, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
- I saved Oreburgh as Oreburgh as .png, but it told me "The file is corrupt or has an incorrect extension. Please check the file and upload again." ----PsychicRider 21:55, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
- Assuming you mean the Oceanic museum... I just got it as png. No idea what's wrong. —darklordtrom 22:03, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
- Well I saved my own Oceanic Museum using all types when I was saving it, so it went to png automatically, but it still said above... D:. The only ones that work to upload, are JPEG...----PsychicRider 22:05, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

Anime Images
Whenever uploading images of anime scenes, please upload them as PNG files. A JPEG file is typically of lesser quality than a PNG file and, as a result, just about everything outside of TCG scans are supposed to be PNGs.
Also, don't convert JPEGs to PNGs and expect them to pass. Doing such retains all of the JPEG qualities and serves to merely increase the size of a lower-quality file. Very rarely does such an image remain in usage for long before it gets replaced. Instead, whenever you want to upload an anime screenshot, save it directly as a PNG. It's not that hard, as many image editors support PNG these days, and even Paint in Windows 7 saves images in PNG by default. --Shiningpikablu252 18:27, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah I don't have any image editors...BUT, Paint did the trick~. Thanks so much. :D --PsychicRider 20:58, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
Hey. Any way to upload some clearer images of Giga Impact so we could actually see a little more of the face? Just curious. :ht14 01:39, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

Uploading new files
Read the top. i.e. no é. ht14 19:21, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
- Also, when using
{{delete}}

- Yes that, but more like labeling certain duplicates, like "duplicate/copy of <insert file here>." That's the purpose of the reason section. If it's extremely obvious though, then fine. ht14 19:48, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
- D:. Sorry, I don't really use the Delete thing here usually...So I didn't know...As for the é, I figured it was well OK since it's common in the name...D:. --PsychicRider 19:51, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
- Because of a user who added parentheses in the filename, the server crashed for about a third of a day. Not pleasant. I got yelled at even though it wasn't even my fault... x.x Oh well. There seems to be no problems at the moment though. ht14 19:57, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
- Well, should it be added that é's should also not be added because it seems like it would be more common to add cause it's in Pokémon so often? --PsychicRider 20:12, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

For using apostrophes? --Psyライダー☮ 01:39, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
- Yup. I personally disagree and think it's only issues with hyphens and other symbols at the end of the file, but if you disagree (like me), then ask. I'm not sure if Mav is ok with it, but Kevzo is changing them, so... yeah. See here for details. 01:43, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
Templates
{{p}}
and {{m}}
are still in effect here. Thus, it'd be {{p|Budew}} using {{m|Mega Drain}} in the anime, not {{bp|Budew}} using {{bp|Mega Drain}} in the anime. Yeah, don't forget to tag the move as well. Thanks. ht14 02:39, 6 May 2010 (UTC)
JPG->PNG
It's obvious that these are converted. The RGB Kanto was for sure JPG->PNG. I have the original.--immewnitythemew 21:10, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
- ...FAIL. Well, the version you uploaded was a JPG version of the other one we had. I'll upload this "perfect" version.--immewnitythemew 21:17, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
- You know, you don't have to be a dick about it. You can go take your little snobby attitude elsewhere, kthanx...I'm not interested in your problems. I uploaded a PNG, and you didn't like it. It's as simple as that to come and tell me that instead of saying FAIL the first time, got it? Also, if you want to not worry about it, how about you upload the image in a better quality the first time... --Psyライダー☮ 21:30, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry if this sounded rude; I didn't mean for it to. Here are a bunch of HUGE cookies to make up for it! :D
P.S. I was saying fail to myself, btw. I thought the original image was JPG, but it was BMP. What must have happened was someone saved the image as a BMP, opened it in Paint, saved as a JPG, uploaded it, then you downloaded it, converted it to PNG, and uploaded it. Confusing. :)--immewnitythemew 21:01, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
- Well, the high quality JPG pics were unnecessary, but all in all, I accept your apology. Thank you for apologizing, and no hard feelings at all. --Psyライダー☮ 21:26, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
Preference
You notice how most of the anime images are File:X anime.png, not File:X Anime.png? Can you try that as well? Consistency purposes. It's up to you though. ht14 17:15, 31 May 2010 (UTC)
- Well...to be honest...I noticed that some were File:Xanime, File:X anime, and some before were File: X Anime...and I kinda like File:X Anime, so I adapted to that...So sorry...D: --Psyライダー☮ 17:25, 31 May 2010 (UTC)

Hey PR
Those that appear more than once in the anime are given the licensing: {{i-Fairuse-screenshot-anime-character}}

- The Torchic pic was a JPG. You uploaded it as a PNG. To remove JPG artifacts, install Paint.NET, open the image, and go to Effects>Blurs>Surface Blur and put the setting on 2 for the first thing, and 5 for the second. Not to be rude, but is there any particular reason you reverted me? Replaced the Weezing picture with the one where half of the Pokémon is blocked out by Ash's big head? Missingno. Master 14:03, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
Junk
Hey Psy, I manually checked the "anime screenshots" section and there are a lot (I do mean A LOT) of images which are not needed, some of them are in jpgs even though we have their pngs and some are not transparent. So, I was wondering will it be okay to delete all those junky images (as we have their better versions already). I know it'll take a lot of time but we really need to get rid off that junk yard. It is way too time taking because Anime screenshots section is a huge thing so I prefer to check Pokemon category wise instead. But it will take me some time to find and put delete template on all of 'em as my exams are on their way. So, will it be Okay? Thank you. ♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 02:13, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
- This is the section I started with when I first joined Bulbapedia/the Archives. Trust me, it's an ongoing job, and well it's going to take a while. —♥ Jellotalk 02:31, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
Flamethrower images
Man!! Why did you deleted the images that i uploaded? they aren't so difference of the awful image (nobody can not see charizard well) that was before. I will upload a new version with a better quality, but i found two new images even better. take a look and reply me if you liked... they are these: File:Charizard Flamethrower3.png or File:Charizard FLametrhower4.png
But the image of today is terrible
thanks fou you attention!
Pedraito 16:47, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
- Your image was smaller than the original, and grainy, so it was definitely not better than the original, I can see Charizard just fine. I would rather the image be of current animation style, if possible. I'm not particularly fond of either of them, but the first one is kinda better. However, just because I like that one better, don't think that is reason to change them, because I won't allow it to stay, okay? --Psyライダー☮ 17:07, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
- I'm here again to ask you to reconsider in your decision, the current image is small (320px), not so high quality, bad desingned(mainly charizard) and you can not matter with it, but my favorite pokemon is charizard and i always make big efforts to find this image, I can't sleep when i remember that image as in charizard and flamethrower article. I don't wanna be boring but i will ask you one more time, can i replace the curret picture for this oneFile:Charizard Flamethrower3.png ? man, we have to admit, it is better.... thanks Pedraito 00:13, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
Sevii Isle 22 image
Hey! I noticed you deleted my picture of the Sevii Isle 22 location data on my ShinyGold Growlithe in LeafGreen! Let me take a guess, too low-quality? If so (which it probably is), I'll find a better camera to take it with. -GSNSmashFan3
Delete and change
Hey! Could you delete this image: File:Final stage of Seismic Toss.JPG. There is already one image like that in png format. they are duplicated. and would you mind changing the name of this image:File:Charizardfirespin.png? The current name is Charizardfirespin.png but could you change to Charizard Fire Spin.png ? Thanks for your help. Pedraito 12:14, 29 October 2010 (UTC)
Watermark word
What does the word, watermark, mean in terms of uploading images? Pattyman 03:59, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
- Anything with a logo or something obstructing the image. By the way Psy is on leave right now, so probably won't be replying. —♥ Jellotalk 04:02, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
Hey, really sorry about all the misnamed sprites...
For my upload macro, I had to manually provide the list of each necessary sprite. They were separated by commas and for the few that went all screwy, the cause was my forgetting to place a comma between the sections for different species. Thank you much for deleting my blunders and keeping the Archives safe and sane. : ) «hexagonTHEORY» 14:22, 15 November 2010 (UTC)
- It's all good bro. Next time if you want, you can skip over them and just slap a {{move}} template on it and the correct file name and we can move it, which is easier IMO then just uploading it again. You're doing a great job by the way, thanks for uploading the BW sprites. It's what I do. 8D --Psyライダー☮ 14:27, 15 November 2010 (UTC)
- Heh, thing is, that's not easier than just uploading them again when you're making your computer do all the work for you automagically. : ) Thank you for the approval; really, it makes it all worthwhile: while the macro was pushing, I couldn't do anything on my computer because it has to "see" the page to work its wizardry. As for it being "what you do", I'm happy to have permanently relieved you of the position; that is, they're all done, in case you hadn't noticed. - Well, whatever makes it go faster and gets the job done and makes the user comfortable is important in the long run. I thought about doing more sprites, but I was like nah...as for relieve me of my position? D:< *bans* I'll see what I can do though, it's up for the EB to decide, but you did a good job so I don't see why not. \o/ --Psyライダー☮ 14:47, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

Hey I'm here to complain...
SHIT!!! Why did you delete the image tha i uploaded? it was being used in charizard main page! And i would put in ash charizard article(it would be nice a picture with ash and charizard battling togheter), cause the page needs at least one good image, those that are there are craps, they are in there cause YOU put them there, so they are perfect! come on god of bulbapedia, let other people contribuite with the site! And another thing! Someone deleted a sprite that i have been using in my personal page, i had permission to use it, I want my images back! Pedraito 22:54, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
- Excuse me, but what image did he delete that was being used? You keep uploading horrible quality images and you expect us to take you seriously? We're not stopping anyone from contributing. You just have to follow the guidelines on this site, which you clearly haven't been doing. What images do you want back? You are only allowed 2 personal images, and so if you had any extra they must have been deleted. Don't be so rude next time, please. —♥ Jellotalk 23:34, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
- Horrible quality? Sorry but it's not truth! First, the image that i uploaded it was in png format, big size(710 x 400), the both characthers are very well designed, and the image used to be in two article and nobody complained about it. only cause i tried change the charizard flamethrower image( by the way the current one is a trash), now he is deleting all my edits. it's totaly unfair! And about my two personal images, one of them(a custom charizard sprite) was deleted, i had only two and one was to space! I will say again: I want my images back! Pedraito 23:50, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
- Look, don't accuse me of lying. I know when an image looks shitty. Just because it's bigger, does not mean it's better. Quality isn't about size, it's about whether it or not it looks like it was a picture taken from your TV or some horrible youtube video. Your images are so blurry and look horrible, anyone can vouch for that. You need to stop taking things so personally, we're just doing our job. Which images do you want back? You could at least link to them so I can do something about it. —♥ Jellotalk 00:08, 21 November 2010 (UTC)
- I deleted it cause it wasn't being used. If it was, I wouldn't have. Check your facts first, thanks. Second, coming to an admin with an attitude like yours won't get me to reconsider it at all. Third, the image that is being used in the article is newer and shows a more accurate depiction of Charizard, focusing on him and the body, because that is what the article is about. Fourth, your image has an unnecessary border on it. There is nothing wrong with the image being used. Fifth, Nate deleted it. Scream at him, not me. Come at me like this again and you'll face a block cause I am not going to tolerate this kind of behavior. Thanks. --Psyライダー☮ 00:10, 21 November 2010 (UTC)
- Only cause an image is newer its better? look at it, and you will see that charizard is totaly bad designed! the image is not bad at all, but charizard look "drawed" by a 5 years kid! And you should give a chance to images of original series, i'm sure that you know that it was the biggest serie of anime and lot of pokemons have good images from there. and about my image the border its almost invisible, and when you put in the article they become invisible. aonther thing, its is good the image stay in charizard main article cause the bulbapedia bigger diversity in images. if you don't want use my image, could you at least find another image of charizard in anime? the current one is awful! Pedraito 00:55, 21 November 2010 (UTC)
- I suggest you think about uploading other images than Charizard, it's annoying having to delete the leftover images from your upload sprees. The current image is one that was from this past series, which is what Bulbapedia standards use. Current is better. Your image is from movie 3, back in 2000. Deal with the fact that people will disagree. Don't take it personally. --Psyライダー☮ 01:02, 21 November 2010 (UTC)
- Man, I promise you if you let the image stay in any article(Ash Charizard or Charizard main page) I will never upload anothe charizard image! It was so dificult find the image and when i've seen that many other sites were copy it, i became so happy and proud that i really am addicted in this site. don't cause me so big frustation, could you not open only one exception, please? Something I saw
Did you know that jpg images tend to fade overtime when saved and used? When I saved an image as a jpg on the computer, it faded and got messy. The fading can be one of the reasons why they aren't allowed to be uploaded. Pattyman 18:39, 21 November 2010 (UTC)
Recent edit summaries
That recent edit summary that Jello hid was rather unacceptable. Staff members are not exempt from the rules, and I'm quite disappointed that it had to come to this. The code of conduct still applies, and I think it might be useful if you at least skim it over some. Please think about what you say in edit summaries before you save: they are visible to everyone. I'm giving you a short block. If you have any issues, please feel free to come talk to me. MaverickNate 04:14, 22 November 2010 (UTC)
BW012
Psy, don't you remember this? Kenji said we can't use a spoiling header (if the spoiler is not there in the Japanese title) so we can't use that screenshot. That's the only reason I replaced it. ♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 19:43, 25 November 2010 (UTC)
- No I don't. I never looked at that. I added it and never looked back at it. However, just because it isn't used on Bulbapedia, doesn't mean that it can't be used anywhere else. Plus, not like it's any more of a spoiler than the episode title, but that's just me. >_>. I don't really see the point of having temp images when we have regular images that can be used such as the BW012. However, the BW013 temp is fine because we don't have an image existing. That's why I changed it. --Psyライダー☮ 19:52, 25 November 2010 (UTC)

See AG028. --ケンジのガール 05:19, 3 March 2010 (UTC)", just from me, looking at the pic, I could be led to believe that maybe Ash is returning the egg from Team Rocket and doesn't get it or that he's giving it to Ash for a while. But I dunno, I'm going to ask Rex about it, more so about the temp thing, cause the images can always be changed when they air. :V. --Psyライダー☮ 20:06, 25 November 2010 (UTC)

Okay...
Well, I uploaded the old one, so you can delete the old revision from the IV one :D! There's a shortcoming in the Mv template. If you have two Pokémon that are the same in the move image, then the categories don't work out well. --+ Joeshie + (is Me!) 23:47, 25 November 2010 (UTC)
- Actually I lied, there's no shortcoming with the categories in the specific instance I am talking about :O. But there are problems if you consider double or triple battles unless one enters categories independent of the template. --+ Joeshie + (is Me!) 23:51, 25 November 2010 (UTC)
- OK. I'll do that. I'm pretty sure they can't be moved, but I'm not sure. I'll ask Nate, since he might know. If they can, I'll let you know. :D --Psyライダー☮ 23:53, 25 November 2010 (UTC)
- Nevermind, they can't be moved. The image would have to be reuploaded. So it might not be a good idea to delete the revision with the image. D: --Psyライダー☮ 23:56, 25 November 2010 (UTC)
- Okay thanks for checking it out :D! And I know you weren't ignoring me XD. --+ Joeshie + (is Me!) 00:00, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
Deleting images in a page
Do you know how images can be deleted without deleting the page itself? Pattyman 01:38, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
- I don't think there is a way, but I'm not sure. I'll ask Nate or Jell if they're around. --Psyライダー☮ 01:53, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
- Ok. I was just curious as I saw on most logs about old revisions being deleted. Pattyman 01:58, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
Deux Questions
Un) File:Unova.jpg is over the 1280 pixel limit. I was banned for a short period of time because of doing something similar to this.
Deux) File:BW player selection English.png was originally a JPG. I know because I uploaded the original. JPG->PNG is a no-no, so I'm told.

- Psy won't be here tonight, so I hope you don't mind me answering.
- 1) "very few images (for example, maps of in-game locations) will be allowed above 1,280 pixels" Use your common sense here. Maps do not count. The image you got blocked for was Pokémon artwork, which is not allowed to be above 1000 pixels. Also, uploading for the sake of resizing is frowned upon. You seem to not trust my judgment here, because you reverted me anyway when I had originally reverted you on that Unova map. This has happened several times with several images.
- 2) I can't stress this enough but I know for a fact someone would upload over that .jpg with when the game actually does come out. We do not want .jpgs. They are going to be replaced of anyway, why not just save yourself the hassle and upload it as .png? That image can easily be uploaded over with a nice clean version later on. —♥ Jellotalk 03:45, 10 December 2010 (UTC)
- 1) "maps of in-game locations". That means maps ripped from games, hence in-game. And, I've seen numerous people upload for the sake of resizing.
- 2) Understood for this situation, but some others don't make sense.
--immewnitythemew 12:30, 10 December 2010 (UTC)
- No one wants a small image of a map. Obviously there are such a thing as exceptions.
- OK, seriously, no one cares if the image is jpg->png, maybe you can tell there's a difference, but 99% of the Bulbagarden users and more don't have the time or want to analyze every sing picture to see if they're legitimately png or not. Whether or not they're naturally png or not shouldn't really matter in the long run because they still look better than the way jpgs look in the thumbnails. Also, reverting a senior admin is not the best idea. Talk to the reverter next time. You are not an exception to the rules. --Psyライダー☮ 17:51, 10 December 2010 (UTC)
File:Wiimoteanime.jpg
You deleted it for being unused, yet it it used here. --SnorlaxMonster 14:52, 10 December 2010 (UTC)
