Welcome

Welcome to the Bulbagarden Archives, Pokemaster97!
Bulbagarden Archives bulb.png

By creating your account you are now able to upload images to help Bulbapedia and Bulbanews. Before you jump in, take a look at these helpful tips:

  • Uploaded images must meet several requirements. Please see the upload form and/or manual of style before you upload a new image.
  • All images need categories and license tags. Save time and fill them out as you upload. There are many different licenses - be sure to pick the best fit.
  • Use meaningful filenames. Make them descriptive so that searchers can find your images easily.
  • Personal images are no longer allowed. Any personal images found will be deleted on sight.
  • If you don't have any images to submit, you can still help out.
  • If you have any more questions, see the FAQ or ask a staff member.
Thank you, and have a good time uploading here!

Regarding welcoming

Got scared for a moment? It's really nothing major, but just before you continue, I noticed that you welcomed users relatively often on Bulbapedia; in the Archives, we only welcome those that actually uploaded something. Just thought I'd like to let you know. Cheers, and welcome aboard. ht14 00:46, 3 June 2011 (UTC)

Whew I thought I did something wrong already. I just put this on mine so I could have a reference for when I eventually upload images and such. Sorry XD. Pokemaster97 00:57, 3 June 2011 (UTC)
It's not an issue; I just thought I would want to point that out to you, that's all. Just remember to read the welcome page like you're supposed to. =) ht14 01:01, 3 June 2011 (UTC)

Templates

Just like in Bulbpaedia, we do have {{p}} and many other similar templates, just thought I'd let you know that. ht14 20:24, 18 December 2011 (UTC)

I'm sorry. I don't frequent the archives as much as I do on Bulbapedia so I'm sorry for any mistakes (or fails I make). Thanks for letting me know about the templates, I'll keep it in mind. --Pokemaster97 20:27, 18 December 2011 (UTC)
No problem. I'm just saying that the templates on Bulbapedia are basically the same here, albeit only a few on Bulbapedia are not used in the Archives. For more templates, see here. ht14 20:32, 18 December 2011 (UTC)
Oh, one more thing. When you finish moving a file, if it was requested, don't forget to remove the move template from the summary. Thanks. ht14 22:19, 29 September 2012 (UTC)
Must have forgot, sorry about that. --Pokemaster97 22:21, 29 September 2012 (UTC)

Ash's Pikachu

Oh, give me a break. It's not lower quality, only his foot and part of his ear is cut off, and it's just plain cooler. But if its that important that it stay so uncool, have it your way. I am Mikoro (wanna talk?) 23:46, 10 March 2013 (UTC)

Please go back and look at your image then look at the one I reverted to. The old one is far more crisp and clear than the one you uploaded. Also, cooler doesn't always mean better. We desire to have full body pictures for the infobox pictures of trainers Pokemon. Instead of edit warring with everyone who reverts you, you should make use of the talk pages. --Pokemaster97 00:00, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
I'm further ahead of you than the apocalypse. I try using the talk pages all the time, but almost no one ever responds to the messages I send. Plus, lots of other images display Pokémon that have only parts of their body cut off. So is it really that much of a matter? I am Mikoro (wanna talk?) 00:24, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
Most of the images that have parts cut off is because there's isn't a better full body image to use. Why replace a perfectly good full body picture of Pikachu with one that has parts cut off? --Pokemaster97 00:54, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
1. Because it's more recent.
2. Because it looks better.
3. Because it being better and newer with a little bit cut off is worth way more than it being worse and older with nothing cut off.
4. Because Pikachu is the mascot of the Pokémon series, and it should have an image with an enhancing background.
5. Because he's actually facing the screen.
6. Because it's more appealing.
7. Because he's actually just now being chosen to battle rather than briefly being talked to before being chosen to battle.
8. Because his pose better matches his personality.
9. Because he's being sent out against a Pokémon that he actually beats rather than one that he simply ties with.
10. Because he's up against a Pokémon from the corresponding region rather than one from a previous region.
11. Because was chosen due to his type-advantage against his opponent rather than as a mere trump card.
12. Because being closer to one of his region debut's makes more sense than being exactly in one of his region finale's. Alright, I've given you a whopping twelve reasons why the image I uploaded is better. Now please reconsider. I am Mikoro (wanna talk?) 02:04, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
I think I'll hop in here. The file you tried to upload over the Ash's Pikachu file is not better than the existing file:
  1. Newer doesn't make a file better, properly displaying the Pokémon is always what matters.
  2. With that said, your file does not look better, it cuts off more than the existing file and it's much blurrier.
  3. #1 and #2 sum up everything in response to your third reason.
  4. The background is not an important feature of the image, the file is meant to be about the Pokémon. The background of your file doesn't help make the file more about Pikachu.
  5. Just because Pikachu is facing the screen does not make it better. In this case, it just causes more of him to be cut off.
  6. That is a personal opinion, and we do not share it.
  7. Being chosen for battle does not matter. Again, it's about properly displaying the Pokémon.
  8. The pose does nothing of the sort. If anything, it detracts from Pikachu's personality.
  9. Like #7, that doesn't matter in the slightest.
  10. Once again, like #7, that doesn't matter.
  11. And, for the last time, just like #7, that does not matter.
  12. Like I mentioned for #1, being newer does not make a file better. Pikachu's design has not changed since the switch from SD to HD, unlike the many changes that happened during the SD era.
Now, Mikoro, please drop this. The file will not be changed, and from now on, it requires administrative approval to be modified. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 02:51, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
Fine, have it your way. But just know that you are overreacting. My image is not MUCH blurrier. Also, the pose does better signify Pikachu's personality. If anything, the current one is just demeaning, because it makes Pikachu look like some kind of punk. But this is not my decision to make, so I'll just leave the decision making to you. I am Mikoro (wanna talk?) 03:21, 11 March 2013 (UTC)

New Pokémon categories

In order for those to be created, do they require staff approval first? Pattyman (talk) 18:14, 12 June 2013 (UTC)

Kogoro says the categories can be created by anyone as long as there's an image under the category already. --Pokemaster97 18:22, 12 June 2013 (UTC)

Nacrene City Spring Image

I found a very much higher quality version of the Nacrene City map Spring version to replace the one who is placed there. Problem is the image can't be replaced (or at least I can't replace it) so I can't upload it properly (with correct name, description, etc etc). How should I tackle this problem? Thanks in advance. EtherealAether (talk) 17:25, 13 August 2013 (UTC)

Is this the image you were referring to? Hmm, it doesn't seem to be protected. Did you try to upload it using the Upload manager? --Pokemaster97 19:58, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
Or cite the FAQ:
Why can't I upload over this file?

Upload fails

Hello Pokemaster97, I'm quite new on Bulbapedia, but I have got Pokemon Silver on my computer and I wanted to upload some overworld sprites of trainers. I've tried that, But it said I didn't have the permission to create new pages. How do I get this permission? TeudowEthan (talk) 19:30, 20 August 2013 (UTC)

It sounds like your account hasn't been autoconfirmed yet. You have to make a certain amount of edits before you can have access to privileges such as creating pages. I think what may have happened is that you tried to manually create a page instead of using the Upload manager feature. Try to upload the sprites that way. Please let me know if you continue to have issues. --Pokemaster97 19:40, 20 August 2013 (UTC)
Hello, thanks for creating my talk page. One problem: It says there that I can now upload files, and I still can't. I thought I did use the Upload manager last time, and I also did now. It kept saying: You do not have permission to create new pages. Do you also need to have made that edits to upload files? TeudowEthan (talk) 09:48, 21 August 2013 (UTC)
That's strange, you should be able to upload files without the autoconfirmed requirement. I'm going to redirect you to Kogoro to see if she can help you more with the issue, since she's more knowledgeable with the Archives than I am. --Pokemaster97 14:40, 21 August 2013 (UTC)

I'm also unable to upload files. I found a better image of Mega Kangaskhan on the Official Nintendo Magazine Site, but can't upload it. image_59724_thumb_wide610.jpg Yamitora1 (talk) 14:50, 23 August 2013 (UTC)

I am still unable to edit/upload the image. It says I do not have permission to overwrite it, or that I cannot create a new page. Also, thank you for the welcome page.Yamitora1 (talk) 15:24, 23 August 2013 (UTC)

The ability to overwrite files and create new pages are restricted to autoconfirmed users. To check your current user status, click on the preferences tab at the top right of the wiki to check if you are autoconfirmed or not. I'll see about uploading the image for you though. --Pokemaster97 15:31, 23 August 2013 (UTC)
It says emailconfirmed, and thanks Yamitora1 (talk) 17:14, 23 August 2013 (UTC)

Hello again, I just realized something. I can only change stuff on Bulbapedia (not on Archives), just because I don't have pictures that have better quality than what is already there. If I don't edit on Archives, will I never be able to upload my Officer? TeudowEthan (talk) 14:23, 12 September 2013 (UTC)

I could also just give the files to you... TeudowEthan (talk) 14:24, 12 September 2013 (UTC)
You could give the files to me, however my laptop is currently broken and I cannot say when I will be able to make uploads again. --Pokemaster97 19:52, 13 September 2013 (UTC)

Hi Pokemaster, I'm brand-new at Bulbapedia, so I bet the formatting of this is all whack. I am having issues with uploading- namely, I can't. When I click on Upload Form, I am given a screen saying I don't have permission. YveltalGriffin (talk) 01:46, 25 November 2013 (UTC)

Creation of new files/pages is restricted to autoconfirmed members, as a spam prevention measure. New users to the Archives will need to spend some time toward maintenance-style editing, such as adding missing categories or clarifying image summaries, before they will be able to upload new files. If you feel that your file is important, you can always ask me, or another member of staff to upload it for you. --Pokemaster97 02:23, 25 November 2013 (UTC)

XY106 error 2

There. http://s1097.photobucket.com/user/Keroromaniac/media/Keroro%20Gunsou%20and%20animes/XY016_error_2_zps685be966.png.html Now do you believe me? I was right after all. Pikachu65 (talk) 18:21, 14 February 2014 (UTC)

Ditto in Generation II

I was wondering, is there any way Ditto's transformed sprites from G/S/C should be uploaded? Those actually are different sprites. I would love to do it myself by the way, but I'm still not allowed to upload new files. TeudowEthan (talk) 15:36, 3 March 2014 (UTC)

I see what you mean. Let me talk to some higher ups about it, then I'll get back to you as soon as I can. --Pokemaster97 16:00, 3 March 2014 (UTC)

Error

Come on. Unblock my Bulbapedia account! I DON'T CARE ABOUT ERRORS LIMIT, JUST UNBLOCK me now. Upgrade the limit a bit so we'll end this ruckus. Upgrade it now or else I'll refuse from this. Are you here? I want to be nice to ya. Pikachu65 (talk) 17:58, 17 March 2014 (UTC)

Yelling at me on my Archives talk page is definitely not the way to get your block reconsidered. If you are blocked on one area of Bulbagarden, going to a different area to discuss it is not allowed. The error limit is five, it's staying five. If you would you like your block reconsidered, you may email Kogoro, or another member of the Editorial Board. --Pokemaster97 18:04, 17 March 2014 (UTC)
I will upload them else where like Pokewikia, They will appreciate that. I don't care about this limit, I wish you change the rules a bit better. Give me an email to each one.Pikachu65 (talk) 18:08, 17 March 2014 (UTC)
There's an "email this user" link provided on the side bar of each user's talk/user page. --Pokemaster97 18:12, 17 March 2014 (UTC)
I can see it! I need you all to change the rules. At this rate, we will argue the same thing. Or delete the useless pics that are too much so we can be partners. The errors section will be uploaded somewhere else. Pikachu65 (talk) 18:15, 17 March 2014 (UTC)
I need to email you. I don't know what your Email address is. Pikachu65 (talk) 14:59, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
I already outlined how to contact a member via email. I'd rather not post my personal email address on my talk page, so please use the "email this user" tool. However, as I stated before, appeals are to directed to the Editorial Board. --Pokemaster97 01:55, 22 March 2014 (UTC)

Animated sprites dimensions problem

Okay, so I know that the DPPt sprites need to be 80 by 80 pixels, however some animated sprites, such as Sandshrew animate in a way that they don't fit in the dimensions. What should happen then? I am so a Vietnamese 1990's kid. (talk) 22:56, 11 June 2014 (UTC)

If a dimension being increased is necessary for the sprite to animate correctly, that's fine. 80×80 is the minimum dimension size allowed for Generation IV sprites. Also, signatures on the Bulbagarden Archives are required to follow Bulbapedia's signature policy, you need to change your signature to reflect your username. --Pokemaster97 20:40, 12 June 2014 (UTC)

New Pic for Pikachu's bio

Could you help me upload a picture for Ash and Pikachu in Kalos and put it for Ash's Pikachu biography page. I tried to do it but I'm having trouble. Its this one. https://zapp.trakt.us/images/episodes/3152-16-1.jpg?28 -- JasonL (talk) 06:13, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

I'll see what I can do. Also, please put new talk page comments at the bottom of the page. It was very hard for me to find your message because it was stuck in the middle of the talk page. --Pokemaster97 16:02, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

Filb.de

Would it still be considered stealing if I used an anime screenshot from Filb.de, AND gave credit? --リックEO (オープン for discussion) 02:57, 19 August 2014 (UTC)

It wouldn't be. Filb.de is one of our affiliates, so we already have prior permission from them to use their images. --Pokemaster97 03:14, 19 August 2014 (UTC)
Now what about non-affiliates? Would it be ok to use an image from Serebii.net, as long I give credit? --リックEO (オープン for discussion) 03:21, 19 August 2014 (UTC)
No, some fansites don't want their content being used by others even if credit is given. It really varies from site to site, so to be safe, we encourage using images from official sites or other public domains whenever possible. --Pokemaster97 03:32, 19 August 2014 (UTC)

talk page issue

‎Tobutz98 has been blanking his/her talk page. I undid it the first time and they did it again. I feel that someone else should get involved instead of me this time on the second blanking. Pattyman (talk) 01:14, 20 December 2014 (UTC)

Pokemon-Amie decorations

So there's a little over 150 Pokemon-Amie decorations (and, fwiw, 34 wallpapers). I was wondering: Do you have a recommendation what, if any, template I should use for the description (and how), and/or whether they should go in some specific category?

And while I'm here, I was thinking of filenames like "Pokemon-Amie Dangerous Smoke Cushion Sprite.png" and "Pokemon-Amie Dragon Wallpaper.png". Is that good, or should they be formed differently somehow? Tiddlywinks (talk) 00:15, 5 January 2015 (UTC)

Looking around, the only close template I could find was the Decoration template, so it may be better to just make a new one for this purpose. I don't see a problem with the naming system that you've come up with, for a category though, I'd suggest something along the lines of "Amie decorations". It'd be best double check with Kogoro though just in case she had something different in mind for them, (or I can ask her and reply back if you don't get around to it.) --Pokemaster97 00:26, 5 January 2015 (UTC)
I will contact Kogoro to see, then. Tiddlywinks (talk) 00:42, 5 January 2015 (UTC)
I don't think I've seen Kogoro around since the above. If you can and if she's around on the weekend, it may be easier (somehow?) if you try to contact her for an answer. At the moment, I'm thinking that if I don't hear anything from her by the end of the weekend, I'll just start work on a template (and I'll code the category into it) and then uploading the images. By the way: if I just make that template, do I need permission before I use it here on the Archives? Tiddlywinks (talk) 06:16, 10 January 2015 (UTC)
I'll see if I can catch her before the weekend ends. --Pokemaster97 05:29, 11 January 2015 (UTC)
I've made a template in my userspace and then I just went ahead and used that in a few sample uploads of Amie sprites for now (File:Amie Checkered Candy Cushion Sprite.png, File:Amie Normal Heart Object Sprite.png, File:Amie Normal Wallpaper.png). I suppose you/someone should give it a look over and see if everything's alright before I mainspace the template and continue on in the same fashion for all the rest. So any comments? Tiddlywinks (talk) 19:55, 30 January 2015 (UTC)
I personally like the template, I don't think it should be an issue if it was mainspaced. --Pokemaster97 21:19, 30 January 2015 (UTC)

Secret Bases/spots

The Global Link has pictures like this for every secret spot (place where you can use Secret Power to set up a Secret Base). I was wondering if it would be overkill to upload all 82 of those images to put in a table on the Secret Base page? Tiddlywinks (talk) 04:04, 30 January 2015 (UTC)

I'd like to get a second opinion, but I don't see why not. --Pokemaster97 21:19, 30 January 2015 (UTC)
If you wanna look for that, all right. I'll hold off for most of the weekend in case you come up with anything (about 48 hours, so I still have some time to upload that night). Tiddlywinks (talk) 04:33, 31 January 2015 (UTC)

gyarados/magikarp

I was wondering where You found the higher res Gyrados and Magikarp official art you uploaded. Jabberwockxeno (talk) 05:01, 10 July 2015 (UTC)

Since that was almost 2 years ago, I'm afraid I'm honestly not sure where/how I originally got them. --Pokemaster97 05:20, 10 July 2015 (UTC)

English Translations of XY Cards

Hey, Pokemaster97,

I was looking through some of the TCG cards in the XY set, and noticed that many of them, almost all of them in fact, were using Japanese images, when English translations were available from the English Database.

I decided to reupload these images from the official English Database, starting with Aegislash (XY 85), the first card alphabetically in the set.

However, I encountered an issue; the Bulbagarden Archives require administrator permission to override an image.

Is there a solution to this problem that you can provide for me?

We are not allowed, and frankly don't want to use the images from the english database. They don't accurately depict the cards holofoils, and it is not at all ideal to be using the official images right from their database, MaverickNate 17:08, 24 November 2015 (UTC)
