Welcome
Welcome to the Bulbagarden Archives, Moonboy65! | |
By creating your account you are now able to upload images to help Bulbapedia and Bulbanews. Before you jump in, take a look at these helpful tips:

Thank you, and have a good time uploading here! |
Image quality
Hi, I just wondered, are you finding the Sugimori artwork in the higher resolution or are you just making them larger yourself? Because some of the artwork seems a bit blurry. --S2daam (talk) 09:33, 10 January 2015 (UTC)
- I found most of the artwork on http://www.pidgi.net/wiki/Main_Page so they are larger, and I did notice some of them are a bit blurry. As for the 431x431 artwork, they're from the official Pokémon website. Moonboy65 (talk) 21:41, 11 January 2015 (UTC)
- You're awesome great for the 3D model of Wally, can you soon make the May, Brendan, Archie, Maxie, Steven and Zinnia ones, please? --HoopsterJohn (talk) 21:25, 11 January 2015 (UTC)
Hi there, I've got some bad news — using images from other fansites such as PidgiWiki is not allowed on Bulbagarden Archives. The ones from the official Pokémon web site are fine, but the others will have to be reverted. Thanks for your understanding. --ZestyCactus 04:49, 14 January 2015 (UTC)
- Actually, all of the images I got from PidgiWiki were submitted by the Pokémon Company/Nintendo. So technically, PidgiWiki is like a image site for Nintendo. - unsigned comment from Moonboy65 (talk • contribs)
- Unfortunately, while I want to give you the benefit of the doubt, we still are not allowed to upload images from other fansites, especially without permission. If you have any additional issues, do let us know. For now, I will be reverting the images that have been taken from PidgiWiki. ht14 23:39, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
- Oh yeah, the 1280x1280 Kalos artworks i uploaded were from this site, so why revert them? Also, i asked permission to upload the images but I didn't think i would need permission to upload them from PidgiWiki lol. Moonboy65 (talk) 00:10, 16 January 2015 (UTC)
- I see... I just want to clarify: the Kalos artworks and the 431x431 images are the ones from the official website, correct? ht14 02:44, 16 January 2015 (UTC)

Pokémon Origins Images
Should all of the Images from http://archives.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Category:Pok%C3%A9mon_Origins be at 1280x720? - unsigned comment from Moonboy65 (talk • contribs)
- Yep, except for the artwork. Also, you can't resign unsigned comments as they give off the wrong timestamp. Pattyman (talk) 02:52, 16 January 2015 (UTC)
- I see... Moonboy65 (talk) 02:53, 16 January 2015 (UTC)
Forgotten signatures
It is against policy for users to resign comments they forgot to sign when they first saved them. Please stop changing the unsigned templates on this page. Thank you. Tiddlywinks (talk) 11:23, 22 January 2015 (UTC)
Internal Error
Um, why am i getting an internal error when updating a picture? Moonboy65 (talk) 23:59, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
Generation VI icons
Can i get the permission to upload cleaner versions of the X and Y icons (Chespin-Volcanion)? Moonboy65 (talk) 01:48, 15 September 2015 (UTC)
Adding categories
For the future, please put the categories on the bottom of the summary page, thanks. ht14 02:57, 23 September 2015 (UTC)
- Actually, for the specific category you're using, instead of adding the category, it's better that you incorporate it in the template. There is a parser that asks for whether it's a high-res image: by saying "yes", the category is automatically added. For an example, under the summary for Spinarak ({{Sugimoriart|167|Spinarak|HeartGold and SoulSilver|s|yes}}), see how there's a section that says "yes"? Just add yes to the end and you'll be set. Any questions, feel free to ask. ht14 03:05, 23 September 2015 (UTC)
X & Y Games and Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire battle sprites
Many battle sprites of Pokemon in the four games that I mentioned in the headlines are missing from the Pokemon pages on Bulbapedia. It's too long for me to list, but the guy that originally did them way back around December 2014 forgot to finish up putting in the remaining missing battle sprites. Do you think you can find and upload the missing battle sprites (You might have to look at each of the various Pokemon pages on Bulbapedia to know which pages are missing imagesCtc1017 (talk) 01:46, 20 October 2015 (UTC)
- Which battle sprites are you referencing to, the trainers or the Pokémon themselves? Moonboy65 (talk) 01:49, 20 October 2015 (UTC)
The Pokemon themselves. Examples of Pokemon missing battle sprites includes Gyarados and Steelix. The missing battle sprites (in national Pokedex order) start at the page of Venusaur and end at the page of Hoopa.Ctc1017 (talk) 01:57, 20 October 2015 (UTC)
- If i remember correctly, they have to be 240x240 pixels. Moonboy65 (talk) 01:59, 20 October 2015 (UTC)
Images and fan sites
Hello. You have previously been told this, but just to make this absolutely clear, the uploading of images taken from other fan sites such as Serebii.net is prohibited on the Bulbagarden Archives. We are especially strict with this rule when it comes to screenshots taken from Nintendo 3DS games, so we link to the message regarding Nintendo 3DS upload permissions on the site notice, which is displayed at the top of every page on the Archives, and on the upload form, which is in loud and bold font and cannot be missed. Seeing as you have just uploaded an image taken from a fan site, even after being explicitly told that stealing images from other fan sites is not allowed on the Bulbagarden Archives, where exactly are you getting all of your other recently uploaded images from? --Carmen★ (Talk | contribs) 03:08, 3 July 2016 (UTC)
Using delete template
For the future, instead of using the {{delete}}
template for the Sun and Moon images that have a different name between the Japanese and English games, use the {{move}}
template instead. Initially, I was puzzled why you put a delete template on two of the images you marked up (in which case, an explanation would work fine as well). Thanks~! ht14 21:26, 11 August 2016 (UTC)
- Acboy uploaded the english version for Guzma and Plumeria instead of uploading over the japanese versions and then put the
{{move}}
template. Is that a good explanation? --Moonboy65 (talk) 22:09, 11 August 2016 (UTC)
Dialga/Palkia
Hi! I was wondering if you could explain where you got the original images you uploaded for 483Dialga.png, 484Palkia.png, and 130Gyarados.png. I'm a bit curious where people find large art like that in the first place, but more than that, it's really weird to me that the colors seem to have changed fairly noticeably (by comparison at least)... I'd kind of like to see that it's an official image somewhere. Tiddlywinks (talk) 08:35, 23 August 2016 (UTC)
- Found them on a site called tsoto, but most of the Pokémon artwork from there is in the wrong RGB coloration. So i had to edit those in Photoshop to try and match their official colors. --Moonboy65 (talk) 16:55, 23 August 2016 (UTC)
Can you explain exactly where, say, Dialga's image comes from on that site? (Like, with a page and/or image URL.) Either I'm missing something, or I'm not sure I see anything that could have been your source. Tiddlywinks (talk) 17:31, 23 August 2016 (UTC)- Nevermind, I guess I wasn't clicking "correctly" on Dialga. But I still don't know where Gyarados is at all. Could you help me understand where that one is better? Tiddlywinks (talk) 17:35, 23 August 2016 (UTC)
- The Gyarados one is basically better in quality (not blurry). --Moonboy65 (talk) 20:20, 23 August 2016 (UTC)
- That's not what I was asking. I was asking where exactly you found the source image for what you uploaded for Gyarados, because I don't think I see it on the site you mentioned. I.e., can you tell me a page URL where it's at? Tiddlywinks (talk) 20:59, 23 August 2016 (UTC)
- The Gyarados one is basically better in quality (not blurry). --Moonboy65 (talk) 20:20, 23 August 2016 (UTC)
Alright... You need to understand something, as it happens. Twice above, you've been warned about using fan sites. You've even been warned about PidgiWiki in particular.
This is not cool.
From now on: by default, it is ONLY acceptable for you to upload images that come directly from an official source. (Like you find it on an official Pokemon site.)
If you find a site like tsoto with images that you want to upload, you MUST ask for approval from a staff member here beforehand. If you have the least doubt about whether a site would be acceptable, please ask; we'll be much happier with that than discovering later on that something we didn't want was uploaded. (And just in case: do not assume that tsoto is (or isn't) approved. If you want to use any images from there in the future, ask someone on staff.)
Let's try to avoid another repeat of this mistake, please. Thank you. Tiddlywinks (talk) 02:53, 24 August 2016 (UTC)
Regarding your recent uploads
This has been bugging the heck out of me for a while, so I figured I'd make an account and say it: The most recent update you posted of the Sugimori artwork on Mienshao's page is missing its nose. Seliasei (talk) 12:15, 19 May 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks for notifying me on that, fixing it right away. Sorry about not being able to reply and fix it, was away for about 4 weeks. Moonboy65 (talk) 06:55, 25 May 2019 (UTC)
The staff would like to verify the source of all of your recent uploads. This includes File:SugimoriGreatBall.png, File:500Emboar.png, File:447Riolu.png, File:532Timburr.png, and File:298Azurill.png. Please provide the source link for each of these images. Thank you. --Carmen★ (Talk | contribs) 03:20, 30 August 2016 (UTC)
- Those are just re-uploads of the same file. --Moonboy65 (talk) 17:49, 30 August 2016 (UTC)
- Those images are certainly not just re-uploads of the same file (and even if they were, we don't want you to just re-upload the same exact file; that's utterly pointless). File:SugimoriGreatBall.png is definitely not the same file, for obvious reasons; neither is File:447Riolu.png, which had its colors changed quite noticeably. File:500Emboar.png, File:532Timburr.png, and File:298Azurill.png have had parts of their edges adjusted. Bottom line is: we don't want official artwork to be altered. At all. You can take the artwork from an official source and upload that, but that's all there should be to it. None of this color-adjusting or edge-smoothing business. The second you alter it, it's not official, and we don't want any unofficial images posing as official artwork on the Archives.
- Since you were uploading the "same file," and since you were one who uploaded the previous versions of those files (the ones of the Pokémon artwork), you should be able to cite where those images came from. So please provide the source link for those images. If you don't have/remember the exact link, you should at least remember the general site where those came from. And at the very least, you should be able to provide a source link for File:SugimoriGreatBall.png, as that image is most certainly not a simple "re-upload" of the same file and since the person who uploaded the last version of that file was not you. --Carmen★ (Talk | contribs) 03:30, 1 September 2016 (UTC)

- In case you are uncertain, you are able (and expected) to respond to your talk page during your current block (which is for your failure to reply here). In addition to Carmenstar's questions above, I would also like you to explain where/how you got File:052Meowth.png, File:026Raichu.png, and File:105Marowak.png, which almost all have rough edges and are not on the page you wrote in their upload summaries. (Again, that's in addition. Please answer both our questions.) Tiddlywinks (talk) 12:59, 4 September 2016 (UTC)
- Just in case, I want to reiterate that we expect a response here. Tiddlywinks (talk) 13:59, 11 September 2016 (UTC)

Gym Leaders Official Artwork
May I know where did you get those artworks of some re-uploaded images? like File:Diamond Pearl Crasher Wake.png I just want to help in editing it since we can observe a very unclean edges from the image due to smoothing from JPG to PNG. Thanks and hoping for a reply. --GASPERshut... 10:39, 1 September 2016 (UTC)
- I upscaled them with a website called waifu2x to make them bigger... you can clean them up if you'd like. --Moonboy65 (talk) 04:25, 3 September 2016 (UTC)
- That was an old upload, but I'd just like to remind you, Moonboy65, that altering official images in any way (except downsizing them to fit within our resolution or file size requirements) is not okay. (Also, please respond to Carmenstar97's message above.) Tiddlywinks (talk) 10:30, 3 September 2016 (UTC)
Fire Red and Leaf Green Pokémon Artwork
Quick question regarding the artworks, do we leave them untouched (the ones marked with {{bad image}}
) or can I replace them with versions from the official Pokémon website? --Moonboy65 (talk) 01:16, 14 December 2016 (UTC)
Pokémon artwork
Why are you using lower resolution versions of the Pokémon artwork when we have higher resolution artwork available? --SnorlaxMonster 02:43, 22 December 2016 (UTC)
- You do realize those are from the Pokédex right? It's literally on the front page of the website. Moonboy65 (talk) 17:27, 22 December 2016 (UTC)
- And why should we use the images from the official site's Pokédex over better quality images? It's not like the images we already have are fan-made. --SnorlaxMonster 18:13, 23 December 2016 (UTC)
- Both the images you uploaded from the online Pokedex and the ones that were originally uploaded were from official sources, Moonboy65. If yours are lower resolution, is there a reason those are "better" than the ones we had originally? Tiddlywinks (talk) 16:58, 28 December 2016 (UTC)

Character artworks
Why did you revert several character artworks back to the smaller version, despite the fact that the reverted versions were bigger and higher resolution? --Maxim (talk) 13:45, 27 December 2016 (UTC)
- Could you explain where the hi-res version of File:Sun Moon Olivia.png came from? I'm usually at a loss for where to find art except just a couple places, so I'd love to know if there's somewhere else I can keep in mind.
- (Also, if you've missed it, a response above would still be appreciated.) Tiddlywinks (talk) 16:58, 28 December 2016 (UTC)
- Can you answer where the hi-res Olivia image came from? If you can't, I can only assume it's not an official source and revert it. Tiddlywinks (talk) 09:45, 31 December 2016 (UTC)
Missed?
Did you accidentally miss EP052 and EP053 while uploading new higher quality header images? --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 20:04, 27 May 2019 (UTC)
- YouTube doesn't have EP052 and EP503 as they were rescheduled to air after EP057. in fact YouTube doesn't have episodes past EP057 or the banned episodes. --Moonboy65 (talk) 20:26, 27 May 2019 (UTC)
- Oh? You took those shots from YouTube. I see. No problem. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 21:23, 27 May 2019 (UTC)

Blastoise JP Blue Cover Art
I just found, on a tumblr page, an artwork of Blastoise from the japanese cover of Blue Version. Blastoise JP Blue Cover Art Since I'm not sure if it's the real deal, I'm leaving the link here so that someone more well-versed may verify its authenticity. It's one of the few classic artworks that has yet to be documented here, and the only version of it I had was ridiculously small. By the way, is there a zip file of all RB&GS Artworks?--Xrick03 (talk) 12:37, 20 June 2019 (UTC)
