Your Comments and Protocol

Your comment here is completely unnecessary. The only thing it accomplishes is to shame the original uploader for their mistake, which is exceptionally rude. Your comments to Pattyman here are also incredibly rude and simply unacceptable. Further comments like such will not be tolerated, and will result in your account being blocked. Additionally, when you want a filename corrected, you use {{move}} and wait for a staff member to move the file. Do not upload the file under a new name yourself. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 05:02, 1 January 2014 (UTC)

Sorry for this. What I did used to be a standard here. Some time ago, the files were unmovable so reuploading was the only way to rename them. As you know, I haven't been around for some time, so I'm not quite up-to-date. Sorry again. It's a pity that only admins can move files, though. As for that Pattyman guy, I still don't understand what's going on. He made a mistake and I merely pointed it out. If I did offend his pride, then I'm sorry, I didn't intend to. But his reaction was absolutely childish, he acted like a spoiled brat. I would never know that such a small comment would ignite such a big fuss. Normally it wouldn't. Meh anyway, I guess I have better things to do. Happy New Year, also. --Maxim (talk) 12:52, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
The extra "Please avoid such mistakes in the future." simply wasn't necessary in a deletion or move rationale, it's clearly a comment aimed at the uploader and has nothing to do with why the file should be deleted or moved. While you're free to nicely tell a user that they made a mistake, and to offer tips on how to not have it happen again, the only place that should be said is on the user's talk page. As for your messages on Pattyman's talk page, they were significantly beyond being nice and clearly quite defensive in nature. Civility is key in discussing things with others, peaceful and constructive discussions are much more productive than name calling and insulting. As for file moving being restricted to staff, it's a pretty standard abuse prevention measure that's been in place since the ability was added to MediaWiki quite some time ago. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 07:59, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
