Welcome to the Bulbagarden Archives, 1ted59!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your uploading:

The Manual of Style, or MoS, outlines the format and guidelines of all images on Bulbagarden Archives.

All of our administrators are here to help! Talk to them if you have any questions or problems with the Archives.

Tagging images with correct licenses and categories is a must. These guidelines will help you learn more about tagging images.

Miscellaneous
  • Please read the checklist when you upload media files. The checklist is there to make sure you are doing everything necessary when uploading said media files.
  • Be sure to tag and categorize all images. This helps organize the vast amount of images we have here.
  • Check if your image already exists by searching through categories, and Bulbapedia pages. This action will help prevent unnecessary duplicates from appearing.
  • When adding a licensing tag to anime or game screenshots, please avoid just choosing "Screenshot". This is not descriptive and places the images in the wrong category. Make sure to choose "Screenshot from a Pokémon game," or "Screenshot from the Pokémon anime." This will put them in the right categories, and help keep the Archives clean.
  • Does your image have a purpose? Will you be using it on a Bulbagarden Project? Avoid uploading images because you think they are "Cute" or "Awesome". That clutters the Archives.
  • Personal images are limited to two for each User. Personal images include personal logos, personal trainer sprites, drawings, trainer cards and mostly any image that would only be used in the User: namespace and have no encyclopedic value to Bulbagarden and its affiliates. Please tag these with the {{i-Personal}} template for easier organization. Under no circumstance should a photograph of one's self ever be uploaded onto Bulbapedia Archives.
  • In addition, please upload images with meaningful names. Names that are just numbers, for example, do not describe anything about the image, and can make it difficult for searchers. Names are just as important as licenses and categories, so make them descriptive.
  • Due to the many automated templates used on the wiki, lowercase extensions are imperative. That means jpg and png instead of JPG and PNG. It looks cleaner, it works better, and it does not cause any problems. Make sure to always use lowercase extensions.
  • If you're confused about the requirements for uploading files, have a look at this guide.
Thank you, and have a good time uploading here!

Screenshot licensing

When adding a licensing tag to anime or game screenshots, please avoid just choosing "Screenshot". This is not descriptive and places the images in the wrong category. Make sure to choose "Screenshot from a Pokémon game," or "Screenshot from the Pokémon anime." This will put them in the right categories, and will lessen the workload of people trying to clean up the Archives. Thanks. --MaverickNate 21:14, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

Names

Cannot have crazy characters or else the images don't work. MaverickNate 22:42, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

Talk page

If you think it's wrong, fix it up then... you don't need to turn to the talk page. Just edit. There is {{Gamesprite}}, {{menusprite}}, and {{backsprite}}. ht14 23:13, 29 November 2009 (UTC)

Filenames

1ted, please do not and never upload files with characters other than dash and alphanumeric characters next time. It causes server errors, like what just happened earlier; 3 files you uploaded a month ago caused the server to crash for almost 9 hours. And I'm sure you wouldn't want to get yelled at. Thanks, Kevzo8 11:59, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

Sorry! I did not mean to crash the server at all! those files I uploaded before I was told about them and I stopped. I will not do this ever again. ever. 1ted59 00:18, 1 December 2009 (UTC)
By the way, is that why bulbapedia is acing so glitchy on some pages on certain browsers? Like here on PalletShipping 1ted59 00:24, 1 December 2009 (UTC)
Hey, can you explain what I did wrong? I'm seriously confused about what I did... ht14 01:10, 1 December 2009 (UTC)
Correction, this was all a misunderstanding of TTE. Be careful next time. I don't like getting blamed for what I did not do. ht14 02:50, 1 December 2009 (UTC)
